“In noting the Dublin City Council Capital Programme 2017-2019, we emphasise that the projected capital expenditure on housing is totally inadequate to meet need.

We call on the Minister for Housing to immediately allocate adequate capital funding to this Council to provide the social housing urgently required to address the housing crisis in our City.

We mandate an tArdmhéara to seek an urgent delegation meeting with the Minister for Housing at which the Minister will set out how he intends to provide the required increased capital allocation for housing for Dublin City Council 2017-2019.”

Executive’s recommendation

The motion was put and carried. Following discussion, it was agreed that the Lord Mayor would write to Minister Coveney to seek a meeting with him, his officials and the Group Leaders of the City Council to discuss funding for housing in the city.
